For today; Just a few moments of quiet; To gain your strength.
And a reminder; You are stronger than you think.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Be calm. Be strong.
And I’ll see you next time.
For today; Just a few moments of quiet; To gain your strength.
And a reminder; You are stronger than you think.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Be calm. Be strong.
And I’ll see you next time.
Family. Friends. Familiar folks. Strangers. Yourself.
All have something in common.
Everyone; absolutely everyone, wants to have a place to be.
A place where everybody knows your name.
There is a longing to belong; somewhere.
What is this desire?
Where does it come from?
You may have your own ideas on this, but here, in this space; I’ll share what I believe to be true.
First here is a scripture I love;
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 (ESV)
Note; God has put eternity in the hearts of men – Eternity fits in there? What will you do with yours?
And one more;
Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. They pass through the Valley of Baka, (Valley of Weeping/Sadness) they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. Psalm 84:4-6 (NIV)
Note; Hearts set on pilgrimage. (A journey to a place with special significance.) The people spoken of here have walked through some hard times; Times of tears and sadness, and it is possible to come out on the other side with joy!
For I do not want to see you now and make only a passing visit; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits. 1 Corinthians 16:7 (ESV)
Notes;
They just want to go home; A place where we would like to spend some time.
For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone. Ephesians 2:18-20 (ESV)
Note;
If we know Jesus, we are no longer strangers, but people with a home to live in.
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. Philippians 3:20-21 (ESV)
Note;
Knowing Christ, our citizenship is in Heaven.
Come to me, (Home) all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 (ESV)
We have a heavenly home, where we are not only known, but He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4 (ESV)
Back to the eternity idea;
Ever wonder what the hole in your heart was?
You can’t describe it.
You know it’s there, but it’s identity remains a mystery.
“There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of each man which cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator, made known through Jesus Christ.
― Blaise Pascal
Why not try filling that space by going to the God who created it and knows the most about it?
It will feel like going home.
See you next time.
I’ve been reading, watching and hearing a lot lately about people who LOOK OK, but in reality, they are really undone on the inside.
In the age we live in, if you have a sickness or condition that can be SEEN; say poison ivy, a broken arm, or even the need for glasses or a hearing aid, there is all the sympathy in the world.
If you have a sickness or condition that is hidden from the eyes of others; say depression, chronic fatigue, traumatic brain injury, or some other form of mental issue, people my judge you in a way in which to say “Suck it up!’, or “Just get over it!”.
If you are mostly quiet, there MUST be something wrong.
If you are loud and boisterous, you must be OK.
Neither is correct.
The hidden condition is the one I speak of today.
This post will be brief, and hopefully helpful.
Volumes can and have been written on the topic, but not by me.
This is what is on my heart today.
“In short bursts, one can create the illusion of virtually anything.”
Mike Rowe on being well adjusted
They seem to have bought the lie that those things will never be better for them, that healing is just a pipe dream and that it would be better to suffer alone and silently until their days are done.
I call this my “Junk yard dog” philosophy.
Tenacious until I get what I need.
My personal decision was that what God told me in His word was either true, or it was a lie.
I chose to believe that He always tells the truth, and wants what is best for me.
His word never does say that I won’t be sick – the kind of sick people can see, or the kind of sick they cannot see.
(He did not say that weapons would not be formed, He said they would not prosper.)
What He did say was that He would always be by my side.
He never even said that everyone would understand!
A friend of mine used these words to describe his journey;
“I just kept playing Bible roulette. (Every day) Little bits and pieces. (Of the Word) Enough to keep me going until I could breathe again.”
Terry Simester
Can you resonate with these ideas?
Are you tired of holding on to the illusion you’ve created?
Have you become exhausted of it yet?
Do you just want to breathe again?
Will you let your “Junk yard dog” take over until you get what you need?
I hope you’ll avail yourself of the Bible verses mentioned in this post, and that you find them helpful to you in getting you along farther on your journey.
See you next time.
And remember always; You are
