God of All, Creator

  • Jehovah-Adon Kal Ha’arets- Lord of Earth

Did you know that God not only parted the Red Sea, but also the Jordan River?

In Exodus 14 we hear the story of the Red Sea.  God parted it so that His people could cross away from their pursuers the Egyptians.  God told Moses to raise his staff over the waters and v21“all that night the Lord drove back the sea with a strong east wind that and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and their left.”

In Joshua 3, we read about the waters that stopped flowing and stood up in a heap.  Verse 4:18 says “And the priest came up out of the river carrying the ark of the covenant of the Lord.  No sooner had they set their feet on dry ground than the waters of the Jordan returned to their place and ran at flood stage as before.”

Only the Lord of the earth, Jehovah-Adon Kal Ha’arets could possibly make these two things occur.

  • Jehovah-Bara – Lord Creator

Isaiah 40:28 says “Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  The Lord the Everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth, He will not grow weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.”

Who else could you ever imagine could design a world so intricate, that we are still learning daily of its intricacies?

In Genesis, we read the account of creation.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.  Then God said, “Let there be light.”

God spoke.  His voice spoke.  He created with His voice.  With His sound, He created everything.  The voice of the Creator.

John 1:1-5 states that “In the beginning was the word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning.  Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made.  In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.  The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.”

Jehovah-Bara – Lord Creator

Following is a video about creation.

It’s really about the size of our Creator God.

I found it stunning.

Enjoy.

Overwhelmed

Overwhelmed

To load, heap, treat, or address with an overpowering or excessive amount of anything; to overcome completely in mind or feeling; to overthrow.

All these definitions are from Dictionary.com

Besieged; snowed under; inundated; weighed down; plagued; beset.

All these are synonyms taken from the Thesaurus: English that resides on my Word program.

Does this sound familiar?

It is so easy these days to become overwhelmed.

Every day gives us more reason to be overwhelmed.

Marriage, family, church, work, school, bullies, cyber-bullies, traffic, war, social media, schedule, schedule, schedule.

The list goes on and on, and it’s always in your face.

Remember the commercial that said “Calgon take me away!”?

Not even possible, not even close.

Some people appear to handle the stress very well.

Others, you can see it all over them.

Being overwhelmed has the ability to make you sick or crazy or both.

The opposite of being overwhelmed is being;

Underwhelmed

To fail to interest or astonish.

This definition is from Dictionary.com

There were no synonyms given in the Thesaurus: English that resides on my Word program.

I believe that the condition of being underwhelmed could be possibly worse health wise, due to the fact that it traps your emotions inside.

The mistake is in believing that if you don’t respond, then you are still in control.

Being overwhelmed/underwhelmed can cause troubles on your insides without you even realizing it!

Marriage, family, church, work, school, bullies, cyber-bullies, traffic, war, social media, schedules can make us feel;

Snowed under.  Plagued.  Weighed down.

From my experience, I would have to add ~ Exhausted and hopeless.

SO.

For the next few posts, I want to encourage you in a way that may be a surprise to you.

It is my firm belief that the more you know about God,

The more you can realize who He is, and what He wants to be for you,

The more you can be overwhelmed by Him and Him alone.

One way to get to know and understand Him better, is to know what His people called Him all throughout history.

Once you know these names, then His personality, His character and His integrity begin to shine through.

With this new light dawning, you can begin to respond to His love without the whole overwhelmed/underwhelmed cycle.

God the Father has been many things for me.

God the Father has overwhelmed me in a different way, and far more than I could have imagined.

I am overwhelmed with His grace and His peace.

Grace and peace.  How does that sound?

Your Value

What do you value?

What is your treasure?

In the hallway of the school my second grade granddaughter attends, there is a sign.

I pass it on Thursdays as I go to help in her classroom.

It says this;

“The most valuable things in the world aren’t things”.

What a truth, simply stated.

Our relationships with God and people should carry more value than anything else we could ever have or do.

I have a friend who raised her children to consider what she calls “The preciousness of others”.

I had never heard that phrase before, nor had I ever considered any remotely like that.

“The preciousness of others”.  Selah.  Stop and think of that.

Isn’t that the very thing that the world we live in does not do?

Isn’t that the very thing that each of us has a longing for?

To be of value to someone.

To be a treasure to someone.

To be precious.

I never sensed that growing up.

I know that I am not alone in that.

Quite the opposite actually.

It’s not a very exclusive club.

The club of the undervalued, the un-treasured, the un-precious.

Look around.  We see it everywhere.

The importance of our personal comfort outweighs the importance of helping others along who just need a hand or a kind word.

It’s true. Helping others can be way uncomfortable.

The importance of having the latest gadget outweighs the importance of living with less and loving our families more.

They don’t want more gadgets.  They want us.  They want to know that they matter.

The importance convenience outweighs the value of giving and nurturing new life.

This has left our hearts so confused that there is almost no hope left in them.

But someone gave up His comfort, so that we could be valued.

That same Someone loves us with His whole heart.

In fact, He treasures us above all creation.

We were created to be precious in His sight.

All the things that our hearts so long for, those are the reasons He came.

He came to speak truth to us in the midst of our confusion.

The lie we have believed in;

The lie of comfort.

The lie of dying with the best toys.

The lie that we don’t matter.

He came to refute those lies with the truth.

Jesus loves me! This I know, For the Bible tells me so.

 Little ones to Him belong;  They are weak, but He is strong.

 Chorus:

 Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!

 Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me! This I know, As He loved so long ago,

 Taking children on His knee,  Saying, “Let them come to Me.”

 Chorus

 Jesus loves me when I’m good,  When I do the things I should,

 Jesus loves me when I’m bad,  Though it makes Him very sad.

 Chorus

 Jesus loves me still today, Walking with me on my way,

 Wanting as a friend to give Light and love to all who live.

 Chorus

 Jesus loves me! He who died Heaven’s gate to open wide;

 He will wash away my sin, Let His little child come in.

 Chorus

 Jesus loves me! Loves me still Tho’ I’m very weak and ill;

 That I might from sin be free Bled and died upon the tree.

 Chorus

 Jesus loves me! He will stay Close beside me all the way;

 Thou hast bled and died for me, I will henceforth live for Thee.

 Chorus

Little ones.  Weak ones. Sick ones.  We ones.

Walking by our side.

When we’re good.  When we’re bad.

He came for that.  He came for us.

We are valued by Him.

We are treasured by Him.

We are precious in His sight.
