An Opinion On Writers Bias

Is biased journalism really journalism?

Bias from any side; isn’t that manipulation?

In my research for this post, I found even the a few articles about bias, could themselves be considered biased, some, but not all.

→A really nice chart on journalism bias can be found here.

Not that “Left” is bad or “Right” is bad, only that ARGUING about either is bad.

Isn’t it a good journalist who’s “Side” cannot be told after being read?

Explore the possibilities, positive and negative from each, but without allowing the reader to know your own PERSONAL bent.

This idea came to the forefront for me mostly in the past week. (I’m switching over to regular, every day social media writers now)

When words won’t come, I spend MUCH time reading.

On nearly all of the social media, and print journalism that I’ve read, and many the blog posts I’ve read, I’ve read some really well written stories, and then, out of nowhere, someone blasts either the “Right” or the “Left”, or makes derogatory statements about persons, by name, that they disagree with.

Disagree if you must, but if you resort to name calling, I’m out.

Your writing acumen is in question, for me anyway.

All this being said, I’ve been accused multiple times, of always thinking the best of people and giving people lots of chances.

So, I’m not mad if this is you.

What I’m saying is this –

You can do better! I can do better! We can do better!

Let’s have conversation without the vitriol and venom,

without the name calling and nastiness,

without the rage and the hostility.

I hope we can agree to disagree sometimes, and not hate each other because of it.

I would sure love to hear YOUR opinion.

And we an still be friends even if we disagree.

Until next time …

Friday Favorites – Bird Songs

When I hear this sound, it takes me back to my childhood. I’m at Gram-pa’s farm, walking the fence rows to the pond. Such a simple time.

These little guys are always happy. They always have something to sing about. We should take lessons from them!

Nothing says Spring like the sound of the Robin!

Wide eyed and feisty!

This. This sound brings calm to my soul. When I hear it, I know I’m home. Wherever I am.

Back to Gram-pas farm, and here where I am now. The best of both worlds!

With Winter, comes this little guy. Such a clown – always out for a good time. Can you hear him laughing?

Thank you for joining me on this little audio tour.

I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Until next time …

Room Full of Questions

“In a room full of questions, the one with the answer is the automatic leader.”

Tommy Tenney

Well I used to love this quote, up until a couple of months ago.

Looking at the “Automatic leaders”, kind of made me ill.

Maybe it’s really the one who speaks first?

With truth, or something else.

No one, but no one really knows how to fix this.

Reminds me of a scripture;

Romans 1:22 (KJV) says this; Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

So, I said all that, to say this;

My Father in Heaven is not surprised by all of this.

He is not afraid.

He created it all.

It stands to reason that He , and He alone, knows the answer.

We need to be humble enough to receive His answers.

Humble.

That’s tough.

Humans really aren’t wired that way.

Why not you ask?

Why doesn’t He just DO something?

I believe that reason is because He wants us to have he freedom to choose to listen to Him or not.

If He chose for us, we could never really appreciate all of His creation, and we wouldn’t choose to love Him anyway.

Romans 8 (ESV) says this; 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

We don’t HAVE to be in bondage, even when things look chaotic.

The key – is choosing well.

Deuteronomy 30:19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.

Until next time … Choose well.
