Significant Encounter Friday #4

I so enjoyed this post by Wayne Augden.

He has graciously allowed me to share it with you here on Significant Encounter Friday #4.

I know you will enjoy it as well.

Meeting Tracey

Walking across the parking lot toward the bus where I was going to meet Tracey was the longest walk of my life.  If I were a movie maker, I could have  made at least a dozen different movies showing the different emotions and thoughts I had along the way.  To say I was nervous is an understatement.  Butterflies?  Bats?  Bigger than that!  More like condors flapping around in my stomach.  I felt like I was going to puke.  (Sorry, I know that’s gross, but it’s true nontheless.)  I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited, so scared, as I was walking toward that bus.  I’d like to tell you I was overwhelmed with confidence and positive thoughts, but I’d be lying.  I kept telling myself that it was going to be okay, that it was going to work out, that we would meet and it wouldn’t be awkward.  We would see each other, and it would be just wonderful.  While I was thinking these thoughts, I had to keep banishing the ones coming inbetween.      I told myself it wasn’t too late.  I could always ….

Equations That Work

Anyone who knows me, knows I am not a math major.

I do however know one equation that works.

The Bible tells us that Jesus is the name over every name.

Philippians 2:9 (NIV) says this;

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,

Not just some names, but every name.

This is not to say that by using His name there will not be struggle.

There will always be that.  Scripture says that too.

But if we have Jesus in our hearts, and truly seek Him in our lives,

He will begin to heal those things inside of us that we cannot reach.

We may never have complete healing here on earth because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:15-17 (NIV) tells us so.

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

What IS available to us is a peace in our heart that only God can give us.

Even when our lives appear to be in an avalanche of pain and confusion,

We can rely on this equation;

Jesus, is the Name above Every Name

And here is what that equation looks like –

JESUS

Bulimia, Anorexia

Loneliness, Abandonment, Abuse, Neglect

The name of Jesus reigns over all.

God created you.

God knows you.

God loves you.

God HATES the pain you’re in.

God asks that you come to Him through His son Jesus Christ,

So that He can give you the kind of peace that passes all understanding.

Philippians 4:7 (ESV) says it like this;

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

This kind of peace the world only dreams of, but cannot manufacture.

The peace the world gives is shallow and temporary, a cheap knock off.

Peace that weathers all the storms?

Now that is Significant.

Night Flight

The view from an airplane is to me, one of the most beautiful sights to behold.

From that vantage point, we can see a patchwork panorama of living color.

We can see the enormous landscape of the world below.

The world we live in is so much larger than we think about.

My little corner is miniscule by comparison.

We can imagine what the lives of those living there may be like.

Realizing that each human on the ground, has their own story, their own daily routines,

their own struggles, their own joys and their own hopes and dreams

What secrets does the land below hold?

What is on the hearts and minds of all those people?

These are people who we will likely never know or see, but God, our Heavenly Father, is intimately aware of every one.

Do they know Him, or even contemplate Him?

I usually fly in the morning, holding to the theory that earlier flights would have fewer delays.

I usually fly alone, because arriving anywhere unfamiliar in the dark can be a bit disconcerting.

On my most recent flight though, I had the company of my husband, so I flew at night for the very first time.

What I saw from there, was even more beautiful than I ever thought it would be.

The view on a clear night from 37,000 feet is incredible!

There were vast areas of intense light, bordered by pockets of total darkness.

In some of those places of total darkness, there were pinpricks of light.

I imagined each of those pinpricks of light to be revealing hidden treasure.

One thing was for certain, the darkness could not hide from the light.

There were long straight strands of shimmering lights and clusters of shiny

treasure all together, each holding the darkness away.

One day, someone may put up another light, next to the solitary light, and then

another, and then another, until the darkness is gone.

The treasure revealed.

Once hidden, now exposed to the light.

Darkness cannot overcome light.

Light is always the victor!

The light of Christ shines thru the darkness, dispelling it, disclosing the treasures hidden in the land over time.

You are that treasure buried under the lies of the enemy of your soul.

This enemies intentions are for your destruction.

Intentions are all they will be if you let the light of Christ shine in.

A pinprick of light is all that it would take.

His light will dispel the darkness.

Over time the light of His truth will make the darkness of the lie dissipate.

You are His treasure.

He has a good plan for you.

A plan with a pathway made of light.

There is safety in His light.

Let His light keep the predators away.

Add His light to your landscape and follow that well-lit path into eternity.

Psalm 139  (ASV)

1O Jehovah, thou hast searched me, and known me.

2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising; Thou understandest my thought afar off.

3 Thou searchest out my path and my lying down, And art acquainted with all my ways.

4 For there is not a word in my tongue, But, lo, O Jehovah, thou knowest it altogether.

5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, And laid thy hand upon me.

6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain unto it.

7 Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, thou art there.

9 If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, And thy right hand shall hold me.

11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall overwhelm me, And the light about me shall be night;

12 Even the darkness hideth not from thee, But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

13 For thou didst form my inward parts: Thou didst cover me in my mother’s womb.

14 I will give thanks unto thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Wonderful are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well.

15 My frame was not hidden from thee, When I was made in secret, And curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance; And in thy book they were all written, Even the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was none of them.

17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them!

18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: When I awake, I am still with thee.

19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: Depart from me therefore, ye bloodthirsty men.

20 For they speak against thee wickedly, And thine enemies take thy name in vain.

21 Do not I hate them, O Jehovah, that hate thee? And am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

22 I hate them with perfect hatred: They are become mine enemies.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts;

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
