Todays Significant Encounter is actually a  post by one of my favorite authors, Billy Coffey.

As with all Significant Encounters, we are compelled to think in ways that we might not have before.

I hope you enjoy this, and think about it as much as I did.

New Years with the Devil

January 2, 2012

He came to me on New Years Eve as I stood outside gazing up at the stars—not so much a person (and not so much a light, as the Book says he can appear), but as a shadow in my own thoughts. He stood with me there beneath the moon and Venus and Orion, saying nothing at first, letting me speak because he can do no damage unless invited first.

“What are you doing here?” I asked him.

And he answered that he was roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.

“You still do that?”

Psalm 139   (NIV)

1 You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely. 5 You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. 7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. 11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” 12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. 17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.  23 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.  24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

I’m Just Sayin’…………….

What will the New Year bring?

Well that all depends.

Depends largely on what you’re saying about yourself.

What your internal dialogue sounds like.

Don’t believe me?

Here’s what scripture has to say about it;

James 3:6 (NASB)  6 And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.

Proverbs 16:24 (NIV) Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

You see?

We need to know that the words on our tongues are fueled by what is in our mind.

We can set our lives on fire. Or we can have healing in our bones.

God is quite clear concerning our thoughts.

For example, in 2 Corinthians 10:5 (NASB) It states that 5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

In plain speech, this simply means that we only believe what God our Heavenly father says about us and no one else.

We should only be thinking His thoughts about ourselves.

Isaiah 55:8 (NIV) “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD.

He thinks you’re special.

He thinks you’re amazing.

He thinks you are one of a kind.

Isn’t it time to agree with Him?

The following verses will give you a head start to finding out exactly what

His thoughts are concerning you, and what you should be saying about yourself.

Just The Right Time

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless,

Christ died for the ungodly.  Romans 5:6

That was me.

Ungodly.

From the date of my birth.

I did not know it then.

That is you.

Ungodly.

From the date of your birth.

You did not even know it.

We are powerless against everything that surrounds us.

And at just the right time God shows us.

That He had us in mind from the beginning.

That He loved us enough to send His only Son.

That we might be delivered from the not knowing.

The emptiness, the hopelessness.

         The worthlessness, the insignificance.

                The powerlessness of not knowing.

Erased by the love of God.

And the blood of His Son.

Replaced by the fullness of joy and hope.

Replaced by the worth and significance of the Son.

Replaced by the power of knowing that the Son of God lives on the inside of us.

Replaced by the cleansing that is only available by the blood of the lamb, Jesus.

I was … empty, hopeless,

           Worthless, insignificant,

                          Powerless, clueless.

I once was lost but now I’m found.

Blind but now I see.

Can you say the same for yourself?

Have you had a Significant Encounter with God?

Have you had an internal transaction with Him?

You are SO important to Him.

He chose you.

Won’t you choose Him back?
