Friday Favorites – Psalms

In these times, these verses from the Psalms bring me great comfort. I hope they will do the same for you.

Psalm 139:13-15 (ESV) For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

Psalm 18:19 (NIV) He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.

Psalm 34:4-5 (NIV) I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

Psalm 46:10 (NIV) He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Psalm 57:1 (NIV) Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.

Psalm 119:49-50 (NIV) Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.

Psalm 119:165-166 (NIV) Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble. I wait for your salvation, Lord, and I follow your commands.

Psalm 131:1-2 (NIV) My heart is not proud, Lord my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. Psalm 150:6 (ESV) Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord.

Until next time …

Friday Favorites – Quotes

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
― Fred Rogers

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” – —St. Paul – Philippians 4:6 (ESV)

Friday Favorites – Day of the Week

My favorite day of the week, is Monday.

Bonus if it’s raining!

Unlike the famous Carpenter’s song “Rainy Days and Mondays”,

Rainy days and Mondays do not “get me down”.

I enjoy both.

Mondays around here are laundry days.

How about those fresh sheets!

Is there anything better than fresh sheets?

(Well besides a fresh start to your week?)

On laundry day the household achievement level is high.

Not only clean laundry, but the kitchen counter gets a fresh start getting rid of all of last weeks debris.

All over general clutter is again under control;

thereby making clear thinking possible.

Between loads of laundry,

Rainy days are a great reason to sit by the window;

A hot cup of coffee and a book in hand.

What do you think?

What is your favorite day of the week, and why?

Until next time …

Friday Favorites – Day Trips

One of my favorite activities is to do, is to take day trips with my husband.

We enjoy just taking a day and driving somewhere here in Iowa.

Just some place for a day, or if time allows , two days.

We will usually end up in some quaint small town here in our state.

There are two key ingredients; antique/what-not stores, and great food.

American Pickers in LeClaire

One can usually tell the minute you walk in the what-not store, if it will be worth hanging around for long.

The owner is friendly but not clingy, the store may be full to the rafters, but not filthy.

How do you know a good restaurant when you’ve never been somewhere?

Here’s our tip; look for the restaurant with all the pick up trucks in the parking lot.

Those farm boys work hard, and have to eat well to keep going.

They know where to find the best down home cookin’!

Being the introvert that I am, I enjoy the trip, but I also enjoy coming home to my own space, my own bed.

Tired, yet rejuvenated.

So here in the comments, please share with me one or two of YOUR favorite things to do.

I have an inquiring mind, and I’d like to know.

Please join me on Monday for Raw and Real # 7 – Process.

Until then …

Friday Favorites – Choices

Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness.

Faithfulness. Gentleness. Self-control.

These are choices I make for what I’d like to see in my life.

These are choices you can make as well.

To be sure, when we make these choices, they don’t always manifest perfectly.

But if we do not CHOOSE them a to begin with; i.e. become aware of them, we will have no place to start.

Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV)22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Verses are copied from →BibleGateway.com

Here is the definition of each.

I do enjoy a challenge, even if the bar is set pretty high.
