Be Encouraged

These encouragements have been rolling around in my heart and mind for several weeks.

Very strongly since the beginning of 2021.

I thought I would share them with you here.

Do not let your heart be troubled neither, let it be afraid. John 14:27

Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27b

Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble. Psalms 119:165

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

Refrain:

On Christ, the solid rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; in every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil.

His oath, His covenant, His blood support me in the whelming flood; when all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay.

On Christ the solid Rock, I stand. All other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand.

Written by Rev. Edward Mote 1834.

Friday Un-Favorites

I’ll just leave these here.

Because I like them.

I am currently off learning a new skill set.

I would much prefer to just wake up and know how to do it.

But alas, beginning new things can be a frustration.

But along with that frustration, if “We are weary but faint not”, we are rewarded with treasures we cannot imagine.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Until next time …

Oh, Pioneer!

The “road” I take every day for my walk is a gently used farm path.

It is peaceful, and quiet, and I know what to expect.

Today I saw this.

It made me think of the trailblazers of old.

The pioneers who cleared the path for those who would come along behind.

Pioneers never knew what was awaiting them along the way, but went forward anyway.

The excitement of new horizons guiding them.

Pioneers always in the lead, and basically, taking the hits, so that the settlers following could have a safer place to dwell.

We need pioneers.

We need settlers.

It is OK to be either.

I think my physical self, is more like a settler.

Contrast that to my spiritual self, who is always looking forward to the next big learning opportunity.

Do you know which one you are?

Pioneer; noun a person who is among those who first enter or settle a region, thus opening it for occupation and development by others.

Settler; noun a person who settlesĀ in a new country or area.

Pioneer

The Band Perry

Oh Pioneer, I sing your song
Well it’s the hymn of those who’ve gone before and those who carry on
Pioneer, your work is hard
But the future of us all rests on the shoulders of your heart

Where are we going
Oh I don’t know
But still I’ve got to go
What will become of us
Oh I don’t care
All I know is I’ll go anywhere
Pioneer

Oh Pioneer
So young and brave
Be careful of the careful souls who doubt you along the way
Pioneer, you orphaned child
Your mother is adventure and your father is the wild

Where are we going, oh I don’t know
But still I’ve got to go
What will become of us
Oh I don’t care
All I know is I’ll go anywhere
Pioneer

Let your heart not be troubled

I won’t run when bullets chase me
I won’t rest where arms embrace me
I will love when people hate me
I won’t hush, no you can’t make me
Send the dark but it won’t break me
You can try but you can’t change me
Take my life, they will replace me
I won’t hush, no you can’t make me
I won’t hush, no we will sing

Where are we going
Oh I don’t know
But still I’ve got to go
What will become of us
Oh I don’t care
All I know is I’ll go anywhere
Pioneer

Let your heart not be troubled
